Troop Library Instructions



The Troop Library is located in the small room just before the basement storage area under the Church.

To Check out a Book from the Troop Library:
  1. Find the sign out sheets.  They should be at the beginning of the shelf if they were put back the right way.
  2. Write your name and which merit badge book you are taking.
  3. If you can find a number on the book, put that number.  If they don't have a number, put n/a.
  4. You MUST put the date when you sign out the books.
  5. When signing a book back in, if you do not know the date, you may be lazy and put and x in the box instead

Librarian Job Description



The librarian takes care of Troop literature. He reports to the assistant senior patrol leader.

Librarian Duties

  • Sets up and takes care of a Troop Library
    • Keeps records of books and pamphlets owned by the Troop
    • Adds new or replacement items as needed
    • Keeps books and pamphlets available for borrowing
    • Keeps a system for checking books and pamphlets in and out
    • Follows up on late returns
  • Sets a good example
  • Enthusiastically wears the uniform correctly
  • Lives by the Scout Oath and Law
  • Shows Scouts spirit
