Why should I join Venturing?

A Venturing Crew is a great way to have fun and meet new friends, and do really cool things, like camping, bicycle trips, mountain biking, canoe trips, weekend backpacking, weeklong backpacking, caving and even going to High Adventure Summer Camps when school is out. You learn new things and you get to feel proud of your accomplishments. There are a lot of different new activities to explore. We learn about our world and new skills along with leadership.

Why should I join Crew 222?

The Crew members in Crew 222 are the leaders of the crew. They make decisions in the Crews General Meetings along with the Youth Leadership and the adult leaders (Advisors) supporting them in what they want to accomplish. We keep very busy all year long.

What sort of time commitment is this going to be?

All of our Crew Members are very involved in sports, as well as school, community, church, and many other activities. As with any activity, you need to demonstrate a commitment in order to be successful and to enjoy it. The Advisors recommend that the Crew Members try to attend at least one of the two monthly meeting at minimum so they can stay up on what outings or activities we have planned. Most members find it possible to achieve this even with their other commitments.

How much does it cost to join Venturing?

It's only $27.50 to join Venturing, this includes their registration and insurance. If you wish to recieve a subscription to Boy's Life Magazine it will be an additional $12.00. This is the official publication of the Boy Scouts of America which does have some information and articles about Venturing.

How much does it cost on a monthly bases?

Venturing Crew 222 collects dues of $5 monthly. The crew is involved in an annual fundraiser . Most of the proceeds are returned directly to the Crew members in the form of equipment to use, Crew camping gear, some camp fees, some of the outing costs and far to many other ways to list. Camp-outs/Activities usually cost between $25-$40 which cover fees, food and miscellaneous cost. Annual week long High Adventure Camps/Summer Trip fee's vary depending on in state verses out of state mainly due to transportation cost.

What do we do at our monthly Crew meetings?

We meet twice a month on the first (advancement meeting) and third (planning meeting) Monday nights. At the Crew meetings, we prepare for (and clean up!) from outings, learn new skills, work on rank advancements, and of course have a game time of some sort.

What kind of outings does Crew 222 go on?

Well, Since we are a fairly new Venturing Crew I will tell you about some of the things that we have done in the past few years in our Boy Scout Troop and our new Venturing Crew that we plan to build on and create even more high adventures from. We have gone on campouts featuring orienteering, caving, canoeing, camping, hiking, first aid, wilderness survival, mountain biking, cooking in dutch ovens, staffing the Halloween Haunt at La No Che, and backpacking just to name a few.

What about High Adventure Summer camp?

What do my parents have to do?

Committed and interested parents stand behind successful Crew members. Parents may be asked if they can contribute in some way. This may be by serving as a registered adult leader, or by simply participating in carpools to transport members to their camps and activities.
